Gotthard Base is bringing back the legendary Med Can lemon tart for dine-in starting October 24!

Back in 2022, when the CUHK Medical Building canteen “Med Can” closed down, many couldn’t stop thinking about it—especially that perfectly square lemon tart. Those who tasted it remember that it wasn’t just about flavour, but memories. Smooth cream, tangy lemon sorbet, and crispy cereal crust—it even drew people from outside the campus to come and try it.

Now, the chefs at Gotthard Base have faithfully recreated the Med Can lemon tart, using premium ingredients like French cream, gelatin sheets, and Japanese eggs. They kept testing and tasting, determined to revive that nostalgic flavour. In the end, the original Med Can owner personally shared the secret recipe and revealed the key tip during tastings—bringing the true taste back to life.

Some said, “Isn’t the flavour a bit mild?” The chef smiled and replied, “That’s exactly how Med Can’s was back then—subtle, but comforting.”
One bite brings not just the taste, but the warmth of old memories. May everyone today rediscover that same simple, pure feeling—just like the lemon tart itself: simple, yet heartwarming.
